Friday – May 18th: While some of you are testing your skills at the Autocross, others will want to join Dawn Stokes from Total Driving Experience as she conducts seminars to help you gain Road Course knowledge for Sunday’s Track Day. Or, you may want to join your friends at the Roamin' Roanoke Scavenger Hunt in downtown Roanoke and compete for some really neat prizes. But whatever you do during the day, be sure you’re at the Speedway no later than 5:00 pm for an escorted cruise and BBQ to the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards.
Saturday – May 19th: The Show N Shine Car Show will be by classes again this year. The classes are by Corvette Generations (C1-C7) and 3 specialty classes: Grand Sports, Z06, and ZR1 (all classes for all years). Members vote on NonMembers' Vettes and Non-Members vote on Members' cars – winners will be awarded plaques. The Judged Car Show will be by class as in the past. Choose your class when registering. Judging is done by experienced LSCC Club members (not NCRS level judging) who are looking primarily for cleanliness. Best of Show awards will be given to the best Member and Non-Member cars, as well as several Specialty Awards and Picks as in previous years. Test your racing skills in our Hot Wheels Derby with your own entryor buy one from us. Proceeds support our charities.Christian Classic Cruisers will once again be playing old favorites from the ‘50’s and ‘60’s.
Wil Cooksey, former Corvette Plant Manager and long-time Classic attendee, is scheduled to attend. Other special guests will be announced at the show and in the Event Program. As always, our wide array of vendors will have lots of new items at great prices. Classic Chevrolet will have its latest models on display.
All activities at TMS will end at 3:00 pm to give you plenty of time to get ready for a fun-filled Saturday evening at the Marriott Hotel.
Saturday Evening: Following Happy Hour, we’ll serve dinner in the Hotel Ballroom. The Live Auction, featuring our good friend, Weldon Floyd, will follow dinner. This auction, combined with the proceeds of the Silent Auction, is the sole source of our support to our named Charities. The Classic is more than just a car show; last year we raised over $25,000 for charity and look for the same or more in 2018. Following the Live Auction, we will hold the Awards Presentation forthose who entered the car shows, starting with Special Awards and ending with Best of Show. The Silent Auction will continue until approximately 9:30 pm in rooms across from the Main Ballroom. A cash bar will be available in the hallway for those who want to meet and greet old friends.
Sunday – May 20th: It’s Track Day, with lots of Vette driving activities. Enjoy some laps around the TMS Oval Track or head to the Road Course to test your driving skills or do both! Back by popular demand is the Golf Cart Derby, where communication skills are tested as a companion guides a blindfolded driver through a designated course in a golf cart.
